Wentworth Woodhouse wedding - Kerry and Mirja
Getting married at the Wentworth Woodhouse is an truly amazing experience, being a wedding photographer there is incredible! I can’t think of many wedding venues near Sheffield that match the jaw dropping beauty and architecture of this place. Kerry and Mirja picked a special place for their wedding.
Wentworth Woodhouse wedding
Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire, considered to be the largest private residence in the UK and one of the largest houses in Europe, provided a spectacular setting for their big day. Wentworth Woodhouse has proven to be a great wedding venue not only for Sheffield based couples but for people from around the Yorkshire area.
Kerry and Mirja chose the hall with its magnificent stairs for their wedding ceremony. The evenings celebrations were held in the ballroom upstairs. I was thrilled when the couple contacted me enquiring if I was available for their wedding day.
Being a boeing pilot, Mirja, had to arrive for her wedding by air and cheered by waiting guests landed outside the Grade 1 listed country house. Kerry, who loves horses, arrived in a luxurious 4 Friesian horse drawn carriage to join Mirja at the bottom of the aisle.
When the ceremony concluded drinks and canapés were served and guests enjoyed the perfect afternoon whilst soaking up the stunning architecture of their surroundings. Mirja is originally from Germany and had a lot of family and loved ones that had literally travelled half of Europe for this wedding.

Now it was time for some couples photos before the guests were seated for the wedding breakfast. The grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse really spoil you, there is so much to shoot but so little time. We visited a few rooms and made use of some beautiful window light there before we headed outside. The open field provided lots of opportunities and the venue in the background looked amazing. We went outside once again after it got dark. This time it was to take a few night time photos at the top of the stairs. The venue was illuminated beautifully and we used some of this ambient light with a bit of flash to create some gorgeous night time wedding photos. Being a wedding photographer in Rotherham enables me to work in such amazing places, it really is a dream job!
Ballroom wedding breakfast
Onto the wedding breakfast! The looks on guests faces as they entered the ballroom for the first time really sums up this wedding venue. It is literally jaw dropping. Even if you are not planning a wedding there I would definitely recommend visiting, it’s incredible. So after the wedding breakfast it was onto the speeches and of course a slice of wedding cake! Later on a DJ played music and the guests partied the night away.
The entire day from start to finish was amazing and I would like to thank Kerry and Mirja for booking me as their photographer. I hope you have a long and happy life together!

Lauren & Vicky's wedding at Hotel Du Vin Harrogate
Double the brides, double the fun! I don’t know if you remember the Doublemint Gum commercials, but the jingle rings true: two brides make for twice the amazing wedding photos! It was sincerely my pleasure to participate in their special day. I loved capturing memories from this Hotel du Vin Harrogate wedding.
It’s impossible to say who was the happiest or the most tearful while getting ready for the big moment. Everyone involved in the wedding of Lauren and Vicky had a smile that nearly outshone the sun for the entire day. It was such a pleasure to see two families truly become one. It was accomplished in the most beautiful way.
Lauren & Vicky’s wedding at Hotel du Vin in Harrogate
Vicky and Lauren were married in August in Harrogate, a sweet town nestled in North Yorkshire. As I provide wedding photography in York and often shoot weddings in Leeds, this place was nearly on my doorstep. This spa town boasts many features to appreciate, the most charming of them is the elegant Hotel Du Vin in the heart of Harrogate. The stately hotel hosted both the wedding and the reception. It also provided a lovely backdrop for the ladies as they prepared for their wedding in separate suites. Both the Robert Mondavi suite and the Moet Vintage Collection suite were charmingly appointed and bursting with the love of family.
The waterworks started when Lauren presented her mother with a lovely bracelet for the “Mother of the Bride” and continued as she gifted her father a set of beautiful lion cufflinks in the shape of a shield. This, naturally, paved the way for a touching ceremony and a reception full of deeply moving speeches toasting Vicky and Lauren.
Both brides wore stunning gowns that featured delicate beadwork and intricate lace, fastened with a tidy row of dainty covered buttons marching up the back. Together, they made a stunning and incredibly happy couple.

The ceremony itself was captivating and deeply emotional, bringing tears to the eyes of everyone present. The delicate bands that Lauren and Vicky exchanged were brought to the ceremony in charming little bucket carriers that they had made especially for the big day. These, along with the memories captured in the Polaroid Wedding Guestbook, will be sentimental keepsakes for the rest of their lives.

Some of the gorgeous bridal photos were taken outside of Betty’s, the famous coffee and tea rooms at the hotel as well as outside Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream.
The reception was full of love, energy and music from a vintage jukebox. The Instax cameras made amazing wedding photo opportunities for the guests and kept the room lively throughout the evening! This wedding was one of the most beautiful and exciting opportunities I’ve ever had to provide my skills in wedding photography. I am so grateful to have been part of Lauren and Vicky’s wedding day!

Jen and Lyle at Hazel Gap Barn
Jen and Lyle’s wedding was a truly special event and an inspirational story for other couples. Nine months before their barn wedding, the couple went on a 1000 mile adventure cycling together from Land’s End in Cornwall to John o’ Groats in Scotland. At the end of the journey Lyle surprised Jen and asked the question which Jen of course answered ‘yes’ to. How is that for a romantic story!
Jen and Lyle's rustic barn wedding
The couple managed to plan their wedding within a short space of time, find time to handmade some decorations themselves and secure a venue that suited their style. The venue also had to be in a convenient location as their guests came from all over the UK including Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Scotland and London. Hazel Gap Barn near Worksop in Nottinghamshire (half way between Sheffield and Nottingham) seemed a perfect location and at the time it was a new addition to Cripps and Co barns. In fact I think this is one of the best barn wedding venues near Sheffield.
With the help of Sharon Queen, a hairstylist from Lincoln, Jen along with her mum and two bridesmaids got ready at her mum’s Willow Farm in South Scarle and they all came to Hazel Gap Barn in a white London taxi. Lyle and his groomsmen were already waiting at the venue greeting arriving guests. Lyle and the boys prepared an extra surprise for Jen as she didn’t know they were wearing kilts till the moment she walked down the aisle and saw Lyle waiting for her. Jen who was wearing an elegant and timeless wedding dress from Whistles could not hide her happiness when she first saw Lyle while walking down the aisle with her mum.
The couple added a personal touch to the day by naming the tables after the places they had visited during their cycling adventure the previous year. The love letters were handmade by Jen and Lyle themselves and instead of a traditional wedding cake they opted in for a cheese wedding cake.
After an emotional ceremony and speeches we went to take some photos in the venue grounds. The red brick barn with its two watchtowers provided a beautiful backdrop to Jen and Lyle’s wedding portraits and we even fired a couple of smoke bombs to give the images an extra pop!
After the couple cut their cheese wedding cake and had their 1st dance played by an awesome live band Groove Anatomy, we came out once more to take some night time portraits of the couple.

Engagement shoot at Cusworth Hall in Doncaster - Magda & Tomek
One late afternoon I met Magda and Tomek at Cusworth Hall ahead of their wedding a month after. The couple wanted a good selection of engagement photos to gift a couple of thank you albums to their parents on the wedding day.
We chose Cusworth Hall in Doncaster as it was local to both of us and it perfectly suited the couple's idea. It's just a gorgeous place for engagement pictures.
Engagement shoot at Cusworth Hall in Doncaster
We all had a few ideas behind this engagement shoot and they all oscillated around it being relaxed and natural. To start with we went for a short walk down the hill and started taking some photos in the back lane by the field. The smoke bombs turned out to be a great idea as these shots came out very vibrant and colourful. The shoot was finished back at Cusworth Hall where we took a few images outside the venue as well as on the long drive leading to this mansion house.
I hope you enjoy the gallery!
Wortley Hall wedding - a superhero themed wedding
I knew this Wortley Hall wedding was going to be special and was looking forward to it from the day I first met Nicola and Jeremy at their engagement shoot at Sheffield Botanical Gardens last year. A really chilled out wedding in sunny Sheffield and at Wortley Hall.
Wortley Hall wedding
I started the day at Wortley Hall. Nicola and her bridesmaids were busy getting themselves ready in a cute little cottage situated within the grounds of Wortley Hall. The reception was also taking place here later in the day.
After the preparations we went back to photograph their wedding in Sheffield. The place they choose for their wedding ceremony was Victoria Hall Methodist Church in the heart of Sheffield and it was a very emotional one.
Straight after the I dos we went for a short photo walk through Sheffield city centre. We couldn’t help it. We went to Tudor Square past Crucible Theatre all the way to the Winter Garden just around the corner from Sheffield Town Hall. It didn’t last long at all and we managed to take quite a few photos before the couple were back in their car on the way to Wortley Hall.
Back at Wortley Hall, while the guests enjoyed the hospitality laid on, we took some group photos and after this we went to Wortley Hall gardens to get some portrait photographs. Back at the reception the party was in full swing, everything looked amazing. Later in the day more guests arrived and dancing took on the dance floor. I’m pretty sure everyone had a great time!
Wortley Hall wedding photos – Nicola and Jeremy
Both Victoria Hall in Sheffield and Wortley Hall in Wortley, where the reception and wedding party was held, are beautiful wedding venues and one could not have wished for a better weather for a wedding. It was a very emotional day with lots of tears and emotional and funny speeches. Wortley Hall provides a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos and we couldn’t help going for a short photo walk in the Sheffield city centre just after the ceremony.
This superhero themed wedding was like no other. Congratulations to Nicola and Jeremy. I hope you like the images.

Yorkshire coast wedding photography - Withernsea
This adventurous couple joined me in Withernsea just a day after their intimate wedding in Doncaster. Troubled by showers this rainy Yorkshire seaside town proved to be a great backdrop for their wedding pictures.
Yorkshire coast wedding photos
This wedding photo shoot of Kasia and Sebastian was taken on the beach near Withernsea in Yorkshire. I met them on the promenade and we walked down to the beach. It was May but it was cold and windy by the sea and it was a struggle to hold onto my camera at times.
The photos were taken at low tide and you can see how far out we walked to get to some spots. The couple said that getting married at a registry office just wasn't for them, so on top of their intimate ceremony a day earlier, they had a beautiful beach wedding shoot to celebrate.
As a Yorkshire wedding photographer I always loge a little bit of drama going on in the sky. It always provides a fantastic backdrop and I love the dramatic sky in these photos. We had some dark clouds rolling in off the sea which gave a real sense of atmosphere, especially with some sun breaking through as well. It's not often you get such an iconic view for a wedding photo shoot - cliffs, golden sand and dramatic sky - but we got lucky that day!
It is possible with the right timing, location and weather conditions. I love working with couples who want to take some risks with their wedding photos and this was exactly what this couple wanted.
